(If you’re looking for a complete appointment-day checklist, start with our general guide to preparing for a KMI health checkup).

Always follow the clinic document provided for your specific test, location and appointment date. If anything in the guide is unclear, Bloom can confirm the instructions directly with KMI before your visit.

Important: Incomplete preparation can affect the examination and may result in a test being postponed or repeated.

KMI preparation guides for gastroscopy, colonoscopy and M2-PK stool testing

To prepare for your visit:

  1. Identify which test you are scheduled for
  2. Download the official preparation guide below
  3. Follow the instructions exactly as written

Even small details, such as food restrictions or medication timing, can affect whether the examination can proceed.

Some procedures, especially colonoscopy, gastroscopy, and stool-based screening tests, require specific preparation before your appointment. These instructions must be followed carefully so the medical team can properly perform the examination.

To make sure you receive the most accurate and up-to-date guidance, we recommend following the official preparation documents provided directly by KMI.

Rather than rewriting or summarizing the instructions ourselves, we have linked the original guides below so you can review and follow them exactly as provided by the clinic.

Which preparation guide do you need?

Depending on your health examination package, you may need to prepare for one or more of the following:

  • Gastroscopy (Upper Endoscopy)
  • Colonoscopy
  • M2-PK Stool Screening Test

Scroll below and download the preparation guide that applies to your test.

How do you prepare for gastroscopy?

Gastroscopy allows doctors to examine the esophagus, stomach, and upper digestive tract using a small camera.

During the procedure, the medical team may perform a biopsy or additional tests if any abnormalities are detected.

Certain medical conditions or medications may affect whether sedation can be used, and some patients may need to take additional precautions before the procedure.

For example:

  • Sedation may not be recommended for some patients with certain medical conditions
  • Driving is not allowed after sedated endoscopy
  • Patients should rest after the procedure and avoid any strenuous activities

Please review the full preparation document carefully before your appointment.

How do you prepare for a colonoscopy?

A colonoscopy allows doctors to examine the inside of the large intestine to check for polyps, inflammation, ulcers, or early signs of colon cancer.

Because the colon must be completely clean for the doctor to see clearly, preparation is extremely important. If the bowel is not properly cleaned, the exam may need to be rescheduled or repeated.

IMPORTANT:

  • Colonoscopy preparation must be followed exactly. If the bowel is not properly cleaned, the examination may need to be rescheduled or repeated.
  • To prepare for colonoscopy, you will need to visit the KMI clinic in advance to pick up the bowel preparation medication kit.

Preparation typically includes:

  • Avoiding certain foods several days before the exam
  • Following specific fasting instructions
  • Taking bowel cleansing medication (pick up kit from hospital in advance) according to the schedule provided

The timing of meals, fasting, and bowel preparation medication is very specific and must be followed carefully. Please download and follow the official guide provided by KMI

How do you collect the M2-PK stool sample?

Some health checkup packages include the M2-PK stool test. The M2-PK stool test measures a marker that may be associated with changes in the digestive tract. It is a screening test and does not diagnose colorectal cancer on its own. KMI will interpret the result and advise whether any follow-up is needed.

According to the current KMI guide, the sample should be collected within two days of your appointment. Follow the document for the correct collection and storage method.

Please follow the instructions in the official guide carefully when using the kit.

What should you do if you take medication?

Do not stop or change prescription medication on your own.

When you book, make sure you share details about your medications, supplements and relevant medical conditions before your appointment. Some patients may need individualized instructions about what to take, what to pause and when it can be restarted.

This is especially important if a medication affects bleeding, blood sugar or sedation. Bloom can help send your medication information to KMI, but the clinic’s medical team should provide the instructions.

Once your examinations are complete, read what to expect after your KMI health checkup, including recovery, results and symptoms that require attention.
